After an almost two month hiatus, Sepia and Glitter is back

Hello readers,
I've been a crap blogger. It's true. I was fortunate enough to win an award, and I haven't posted anything since then. I have been creating some artwork, not enough, but I've just been so busy with "real life" that I haven't been keeping up much with actually documenting it (i.e. here.)

I had one of those waking up things that you get at 4:30 in the morning the other night - the kind where you wake up obsessed with some idea, and it just won't let you get back to sleep until you've processed it. The word "Simplify." I'm not sure what this means (in relationship to me, I mean), and what I'm supposed to do with it. Was it about my art? My life? My ongoing addiction to buying every mixed media book that's printed (am running out of shelf space)? Maybe I'm supposed to use my wads of expensive scrapbooking paper (not used, but impeccably sorted.) My bead stash (not used, but also impeccably sorted.) Maybe I'm supposed to concentrate on one type of media at a time and learn more about it instead of making things harder on myself by dabbling in so many art forms. I don't know.

Or maybe it just means "post to your blog more often, they don't have to be highly complex posts with eight hours of art behind each of them...."

I'll be the first to let you know when I do...

Hey! Why should you be any different (read "better") than the rest of us? We all have all of the same stuff! Mine, of course, are not impeccably sorted. I am working on that though.

Hah, Impeccably sorted. Nope, not mine. I organize my entire life and I love that about me. But in an effort to be me (the little girl I used to be with the always messy room) I refuse to organize my art stuff. So it is passably organized (to the point you can actually get close to where something should be) but not real organized. I don't know what simplify means for you. I had that a while back and went through my entire house trying to get rid of things I didn't use. It worked and I was very happy. Somehow it's back again though LOL If it were me and I was feeling this way I think I'd grab a handful of beads and a page of that paper and some glue. Then maybe I'd gesso over it. Heh, just to see how I felt about it after I was done. You never know.

I too seem compelled to buy every mixed media book that comes my way. Each time I say to myself, "okay this is the last one for a while." My supplies are far from being organized. I need to rethink how my creative room is organized. I need some storage solutions.

Thanks for posting your thank you on the board. I'm not sure why you can't leave a message on my blog. I'm grateful to Christy for helping with the Yahoo board. It is hard to find time for it all!

Here's to a creative 2009!

I like the idea of your blogging more often. :) Even if it's just a paragraph, a picture, or a mere thought... posting SOMETHING here lets your readers know that you're still alive (granted I know this because I see you almost every day) and still using the blog medium. We like your writing and your art! You have a following, remember? :)
